Physical Development

Physical activity and exercise are vital aspects of a child's development.  We recognise this at WPMS, and make the most of our facilities and surroundings.

We have two good-sized playgrounds for the children to play in, which can be opened up to form one large free-flowing space.  Equipment includes a Playhouse, bikes and scooters, balls and hoops, mirrors and blackboards.

We also use the space in introduce aspects of nature to the children, with planting projects, bird feeders and bug-houses.

We recently installed a soft tarmac surface through-out to allow us to introduce low-level climbing and balancing apparatus.  Road graphics give purpose to riding bikes and scooters, and help develop coordination and control.

We also make good use of Wimbledon Park, which is less than 200 metres away.  Trips to collect objects for the nature table throughout the year help explain the changing seasons.  Making the most of the weather in small, well-supervised groups is also commonplace.

We also hold an Annual Sports Day in Wimbledon Park, including the ever competitive Parents' and Teachers' races.
